Summer 2022 Update
Good morning!
I haven't posted an update in ages, I know. Bad Lucy! Thing is, in the real world of an aspiring author, sometimes there are long periods of behind the scenes work, that doesn't really offer much of an update.
You see, I have this problem. Well, more than one problem, two stick out the most. One, I have so many different works in progress started because I have so many different stories in my head clamoring to get out that forward progress is slow. Focusing on one story just brings on all sorts of anxiety. I've discovered that it's best to just go with the flow. Whichever story is speaking the loudest to me, that's the one I work on.
The other main problem is financial. Don't we all have that issue right now? I have two books completely done and waiting for an editor. The problem is, a good editor costs quite a chunk of money. For good reason! Those guys are angels put on this earth to bless writers and authors with their gloriousness. But, it also has me in a holding pattern.
Also, one of those waiting for an editor, I discovered by pure luck another author used the exact same photo as my cover designer did. So there would have been two books that looked almost exactly the same. Two different genres, but that was still sort of sticky. So, back to the drawing board. I'm just amazingly thankful that I found it and could fix it before publishing myself. Although, I read that other book and the cover has nothing to do with the story itself. It does with mine, so I'm a bit miffed about losing the photo, but there are other photos to choose from to maintain the cover idea.
So, in essence, I'm actively working on: the third Crestone, a D & D type quest fantasy story, two straight contemporary stories, a paranormal fantasy, a sci-fi fantasy, and a couple of others that I barely touch, but they sit in the back of my mind waiting to take their turn in rotation.
This weekend, the focus has been on the sci-fi fantasy. Think King Author's round table crossed with Atlantis with a dash of Lilo and Stitch thrown in. Also, so far, I don't exactly know how the book ends. Obviously the good guys will prevail, but there are two options and so far, neither are letting me know which is the preferred one.
Now, it's time to take my daughter to breakfast in town. Enjoy the day. May the summer heat be gentle for you where ever you are.
